Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento River Cats (44-63) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, thanks to a pair of solo homers from first baseman Myles Schroder, and hung on to defeat the Iowa Cubs (39-67) 7-4. The win ends a streak of seven straight losses for Sacramento.

After being shut out in Saturday's game, the River Cats jumped out to a 7-0 lead on Sunday with the help of an explosive five-run second inning. After switch-hitter Myles Schroder led off the inning with a solo home run, six of the next seven Sacramento batters would reach base and the River Cats would bat around the order.

Schroder would continue his power stroke in the fifth inning when he clubbed another solo homer, this time from the right side of the batter's box. Schroder now has eight home runs this season and four in his last five games.

River Cats ace Casey Kelly dominated the Cubs over the first five innings before running into some trouble in the sixth. Kelly finished with four strikeouts and four earned runs in his six innings of work.

The River Cats will go for the series split in Monday's matinee finale. Left-hander Daniel Camarena (0-5, 4.62) gets the nod in his return to the River Cats' rotation and the Cubs counter with right-hander Duane Underwood (4-9, 4.34). First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. (PT). Catch all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, and on the air on Money 105.FM.

Additional Notes

- Sacramento moved back to .500 with a 13-13 record in day games, and improved to an impressive 33-16 this season when they score first.

- After another scoreless outing, Tyler Rogers has now allowed just two runs in his last 21.2 innings pitched and lowered his earned run average to 1.61.
