From Music City to Cooperstown: Former Sounds pitcher Trevor Hoffman was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame today. He is the first true former Nashville Sounds player to be enshrined in Cooperstown. He pitched for the Sounds for nearly the entirety of the 1992 season and made two rehab appearances in 2009. In the 1992 season he went 4-6 with six saves and a 4.27 ERA in 42 games (five starts). He struck out 63 in 65.1 innings. Hoffman was a seven-time MLB All-Star and is second on the all-time saves list with 601 behind only Mariano Rivera's 652.

Pleading Against a Fifth: The Sounds have dropped four straight ball games, matching a season-long streak. They also lost four straight games from April 6-9, from June 9-13, and from June 16-19. The Sounds have not lost five in a row since April 12-16, 2017.

Crazy Eight: Last night's starter for the Sounds, James Naile allowed eight earned runs, matching his own career-high and the most allowed by a Sounds pitcher this season. Naile also allowed eight earned runs against the Albuquerque Isotopes on June 16.

Milestone Watch: Several Sounds are nearing career milestones. With an RBI last night Ramón Laureano is now two shy of 200 for his career and is two stolen bases shy of 100. Shortstop Jorge Mateo needs two more doubles to reach the century mark for his career.

Flashing the Leather: Shortstop Jorge Mateo has been hot at the plate and in the field as of late. He has not committed an error in his last 20 games, which is the longest errorless streak of his career. On the season Mateo has committed 17 errors, which is the second most on the team behind only Sheldon Neuse's 19.
