Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings dropped their third consecutive game to the Bisons Saturday night, 6-1 at Sahlen Field. Rochester's offense combined to collect four hits for the third time in August, while the pitching staff combined to strike out double digit batters for the first time since 8/4 at Scranton/WB.

Buffalo opened the scoring in the first inning for the third straight game Saturday night. Two doubles off the bat of leadoff hitter CF Rafael Lantigua and SS Ernie Clement, followed by an RBI single from RF Addison Barger made the score 2-0 after one.

Both teams combined to reach scoring position just five times from the second inning, until Lantigua launched a two-run homer over the left field fence in the seventh to push the Bisons lead to 4-0. Later in the inning, a sacrifice fly and a pair of doubles swelled their lead to six after seven.

Rochester broke into the run column in the top of the eighth, putting runners on the corners with two outs before RF Travis Blankenhorn reached on an error that scored CF Cody Wilson and cut the lead to 6-1. Buffalo added another in the eighth, and the Wings went scoreless in the ninth as Buffalo took their third-straight contest from Rochester, 6-1.

RHP Jackson Rutledge (2-2, 4.65) took the ball to start for the Wings and took the loss, delivering 5.0 innings in the contest. The right-hander allowed two earned on six hits, while striking out six and walking a pair. LHP Tim Cate was first out of the bullpen, and allowed three earned on two hits in an inning of work. RHP Amos Willingham and RHP Joel Peguero covered the seventh and eighth, respectively, combining to allow an earned run while striking out one.

Saturday night's Diamond Pro Player of the Game is RHP Jackson Rutledge. The Missouri native allowed two earned over 5.0 innings in the contest, and has posted a 2-1 record with a 3.66 ERA (8 ER/19.2 IP) through four starts in August.

Rochester went 0-for-3 in ABS challenges Saturday, while Buffalo went 1-for-2.

The Wings will look to salvage the finale against Buffalo tomorrow afternoon. RHP Tommy Romero is slated to make his seventh start of the season, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
