Worcester, MA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders fell 14-12 to the Worcester WooSox in an eventful Saturday contest. The Yankees top prospects combined for eleven hits, including five home runs in the loss.

Everson Pereira smoked a 476-foot solo homer in the first inning for an early lead.

The WooSox battled back in the second inning. Bobby Dalbec walked to reach and trotted home on Yu Chang's home run.

Worcester added to their lead in the next frame. Back-to-back singles from Ceddone Rafaela and Enmanuel Valdez put two on. Wilyer Abreu drew a walk to load the bases. Dalbec followed with his second free pass of the game to drive in a run. Then Ronaldo Hernandez launched a grand slam for a 7-1 advantage.

The RailRiders began to chip away with a run in the fourth. Andres Chaparro led off with a solo homer driving the ball 441-feet.

In the fifth, the visitors added four more runs to their total. After Oswald Peraza was hit by a pitch, Austin Wells hit his second home run of the series. Pereira worked a walk and scored on a wild pitch, while Franchy Cordero reached on a fielder's choice and scored on an error. The RailRiders trailed just 7-6.

The WooSox got one right back in the bottom half. Abreu walked, moved over on a balk and stolen base, and scored on a passed ball.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was right there again in the sixth. Peraza hit by pitch to begin the frame and crossed the plate on an RBI double from Wells, trailing just 8-7.

Worcester put on two more without a hit in the seventh. An error allowed Abreu to score and Chang trotted home on an wild pitch to increase the lead 10-7.

Pereira's bat was hot again, hitting his second home run of the game in the eighth. This time it traveled 436-feet to make it 10-8.

In the eighth inning, the Red Sox added some insurance. A wild pitch plated one and Abreu's three-run long ball made it 14-8.

The RailRiders did not go down quietly in the ninth inning. Cordero led off with a walk and Jamie Westbrook doubled to put them both in scoring position. Jake Lamb laced a base hit up the middle to drive them both in. Then, Peraza stepped to the plate and crushed the team's fifth home run of the day. It traveled 445-feet to bring the RailRiders within two. SWB fell 14-12.

Edgar Barclay (L, 0-2) got the start giving up seven runs in three innings of work. Michael Gomez, Ron Marinaccio, and Matt Bowman all pitched out of the bullpen. Wilmer Difo took the mound to finish the game for the third time this season.

The WooSox utilized five pitchers in the contest with Ryan Fernandez being awarded the win.

Worcester and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will wrap up the series and their season together with an afternoon contest on Sunday. Righty Will Warren is scheduled to get the ball in a 1:05 PM start.
