Toledo Mud Hens News Release
Toledo, OH - The Toledo Mud Hens faced off against the Omaha Storm Chasers in the second to last game of the series and lost 5-2 in the weekend contest.
Braden Bristo faced off against Jonathan Heasley in the pitching match-up for Saturday's game. Both pitchers entered the game with ERA's above seven.
Tyler Nevin continued to be dominant at the plate smoking a solo home run in his first at-bat of the day to give the Hens a 1-0 lead. in the bottom of the second inning.
Braden Bristo pitched the first two innings for the Mud Hens and didn't allow a run in his appearance. In his two innings, Bristo only allowed one base runner via a walk in the first inning. Bristo was replaced by Zach Logue to start the inning.
In the top of the third, the Storm Chasers' offense came alive. With nobody on and two outs, Angelo Castellano roped a solo home run to tie the game at one. Bubba Thompson followed the home run with a single, then Devin Mann was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Nick Pratto then singled to score Thompson to give the Chasers a 2-1 lead. Nick Loftin then followed up with a 2-RBI single to cap off a four-run third inning for the Storm Chasers.
In the bottom of the third inning, Dillon Dingler doubled to put himself in the scoring position to lead off the inning. Later in the inning with one out, Justyn-Henry Malloy singled up the middle to score Dingler to trim the Storm Chasers' lead down 4-2.
Zach Logue's day was finished after pitching two innings for the Hens. After having trouble in the third, Logue bounced back by pitching a scoreless fourth inning to end his day.
In the top of the fifth inning, Devin Mann treated the new Mud Hens pitcher from the bullpen Rony Garcia with a solo blast to put the Storm Chasers back up by three.
After allowing the home run in his first inning of work, Garcia bounced back by pitching a scoreless sixth inning. In his two innings of work on the mound, Garcia only allowed the one home run on his stat line and struck out four of the seven batters he faced.
Mason Englert entered the game in the seventh inning from the bullpen and pitched a scoreless frame in his outing.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Parker Meadows hit a solo home run to make it a 5-3 ball game. That home run was Meadow's 19th on the season which gives him the team lead.
Layne Henderson pitched the eighth and ninth inning for the Hens and kept the Storm Chasers off the board to give the Hens their best chance at a comeback.
Colin Snider entered the game to try and record the save and the win for the Storm Chasers in the bottom of the eighth inning holding a 5-3 lead. Snider pitched two scoreless innings to secure the two-inning save and win for the Omaha Storm Chasers.
