Charlotte Knights News Release

(NASHVILLE, TN) -- The Charlotte Knights held the Nashville Sounds scoreless over the first eight innings and went on to win game five of the six-game series from First Horizon Park in Nashville, TN by a score of 5-1. Saturday's win snapped Charlotte's three-game losing streak.

LHP Sammy Peralta (5-6, 5.09) earned the win out of the bullpen for the Knights, his second win of the series. Peralta did not allow a run or a hit over his three masterful innings pitched on Saturday night. He also earned the win in Tuesday's opener, holding the Sounds scoreless and hitless over 2.2 innings that night.

A total of six Charlotte pitchers combined to hold the Sounds to just one run on three hits. RHP Mike Mayers started the game and allowed just one hit over two scoreless innings. Jordan Leasure, Chris Muller and Edgar Navarro each tossed a scoreless inning out of the bullpen. RHP Luke Farrell allowed the only run of the game in the top of the ninth inning.

Offensively for the Knights, second baseman Laz Rivera had a solid day at the plate. Rivera, who was activated off the Development List on Thursday, made his first start of the season since July 1. He went 2-for-4 with a triple and RBI. Center fielder Adam Haseley continued his solid hitting and went 2-for-5 with an RBI. The red-hot hitting Haseley has now recorded at least one RBI in four consecutive games. Third baseman Yolbert Sánchez also chipped in with an RBI double, his sixth RBI of the series.

The two teams will conclude the six-game series on Sunday night from Nashville, TN. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch on Sunday night is set for 7:05 p.m. from First Horizon Park.
