Durham Bulls News Release

DURHAM, NC - Bulls second baseman Ronny Simon smashed his first Triple-A home run and center fielder Kameron Misner mashed a go-ahead eighth-inning longball while relievers Carlos Garcia and Jalen Beeks combined for the final four scoreless frames as Durham defeated the Gwinnett Stripers 3-2 in front of an announced crowd of 9,084 on Saturday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Simon's solo shot in the third gave the Bulls the early 1-0 advantage. The Stripers would answer with a two-spot in the fourth prior to RF Diego Infante's game-tying RBI single in the fifth, setting the stage for the late-inning heroics. Misner would loft a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall to put Durham ahead for good.

Beeks (2.0 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 5 SO) would finish the job in the ninth to earn the victory, combining with Garcia (2.0 IP, 3 SO) for the final four shutout frames in support of starter Anthony Molina (5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO). Gwinnett reliever Seth Elledge (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 SO) suffered the defeat.

The victory is the seventh straight win for the Bulls, matching the club's season-high win streak. Their triumph along with Lehigh Valley's victory over Jacksonville keeps Durham a half-game behind the IronPigs for first place in the International League second half standings.

Durham is set to go for the series sweep on Sunday evening against Gwinnett, with first pitch scheduled for 5:05pm. The Bulls' starting pitcher has not yet been determined, while the Stripers are anticipated to give the nod to RHP Allan Winans.

Tickets for that game and all remaining 2023 Durham Bulls home games are available, and can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com, or by calling 919.956.BULL.
