Gwinnett Stripers News Release
DURHAM, N.C. - A solo home run by Kameron Misner broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning, leading the Durham Bulls (68-51) to a narrow 3-2 win over the Gwinnett Stripers (54-63) on Saturday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Decisive Plays: Ronny Simon gave Durham a 1-0 lead in the third with a solo homer to right field off Michael Soroka, but Gwinnett too a 2-1 lead in the second as Jesus Aguilar doubled home Braden Shewmake and then scored on a single by Drew Lugbauer. The lead was short-lived, as the Bulls tied it on a two-out RBI single by Diego Infante in the fifth. The game stayed 2-2 until the eighth, when Misner hit an opposite-field solo shot (13) off Seth Elledge (L, 3-2). The Stripers put two on in the ninth, but Jalen Beeks (W, 1-1) stranded both.
Key Contributors: Lugbauer went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Gwinnett's only multi-hit game. Aguilar finished 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI, and Forrest Wall went 1-for-4 with his 46th stolen base of the year. Soroka tied a season high with nine strikeouts over 4.2 innings of three-hit, two-run baseball. For Durham, Simon and Misner each went 1-for-3 with a solo homer.
Noteworthy: Wall's 46th steal tied him with Luis Durango (46 in 2012) for the Gwinnett single-season record. Lugbauer has now hit safely in five straight games to begin his Triple-A career, batting .318 with five RBIs. Gwinnett has lost nine consecutive games in Durham going back to May 12, 2022.
