Brampton Beast News Release

READING, PENNSYLVANIA - Steven Kaunisto perfectly picked the top corner on Reading Royals goaltender Martin Ouellette at 2:28 of overtime as the Brampton Beast completed a gritty, gutsy comeback to win 2-1 in the extra frame at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania on Friday night.

Joe Zarbo had a goal and an assist and Scott Jacklin picked up a pair of assists to help the Beast snap a four-game winless skid.

The teams were deadlocked in a scoreless draw after an opening period that saw the Beast penalty killers get the momentum rolling as they killed off three first period penalties.

Beast goaltender Jordan Ruby was sensational through the first period and made 13 saves in the opening frame alone and almost recorded his second straight scoreless period before the Royals were finally able to beat him with just 1:06 remaining in the second period.

Reading's leading goal-scorer, Robbie Czarnik, pounced on a rare Ruby rebound and sent a backhand shot into the back of the net on the Royals' 25th shot of the game.

The Beast came out flying in the third period and were rewarded for their efforts. Joe Zarbo pounced on a loose puck while crashing the net and potted his first as a member of the Beast at 4:09 of the final period, with Jeff Brown and Scott Jacklin earning the assists.

Ruby shut the door for the remainder of the period and stopped 35 saves through regulation time to help send the game to overtime, to set up Kaunisto's beautiful game-winning wrist shot, which was assisted by Scott Jacklin and Joe Zarbo.

Ruby picked up his first win as a member of the Beast with a stellar 35-save performance. Reading's Martin Ouellette finished the game with 20 saves.
