Tonight's Game Still On, But with Changes

January 22, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced their game this evening (Friday, January 22) against Evansville will be played as scheduled. However, the Heroes Night festivities and specialty jersey auction have been rescheduled. The Heroes Night activities will be moved to Friday, February 19 due to the current poor weather conditions. Further details on the specialty jersey auction will be forthcoming from the team.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. for tonight's game in preparation for a 7 p.m. puck drop at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

"Heroes Night is an event dedicated to our local heroes, many of whom are first responders. With the current weather conditions, we wanted to enable them to do the important work they need to do tonight and not miss the opportunity to be honored," Swamp Rabbits Executive Vice President Chris Lewis said. "We still want to recognize and honor these brave men and women and have decided to make our Heroes Night activities an additional part of our Celebrate Greenville festivities on February 19."

The Swamp Rabbits are offering a 2-for-1 ticket special for the next home game on February 13 at 8 p.m. to all individuals who present an unused game ticket from tonight (January 22) at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena box office. Season ticket holders and group purchases should contact the Swamp Rabbits office directly at 864-674-PUCK (7825).

The following elements to Heroes Night have been rescheduled to February 19 and will become a part of the Swamp Rabbits' Celebrate Greenville festivities:

- Special jerseys will be worn by the team and auctioned off following the game to benefit local military and first responder organizations (details on the auction will be forthcoming)

- "Touch-A-Truck" event outside the main entrance

- Recognition of local heroes John Warren, Deputy Dave Dempsey, and members of the Gantt Fire Department

- National anthem performance and live-action painting by local artist Joe Everson

More details on the rescheduled Heroes Night activities will be available early next week. In addition, fans are asked to stay tuned throughout the afternoon on SwampRabbits.com and the team's Official Facebook and Twitter pages for possible updates on the status of tonight's game.

Trolley On Over: Greenville's downtown trolley route has been extended to include a stop at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The expanded route will operate for all Swamp Rabbits' games taking place Thursdays through Sundays during normal trolley service hours.
