Tulsa Oilers News Release

Independence, MO - The Tulsa Oilers allowed the Mavericks to hold tight to their perfect home record when they fell 2-1 Friday night in Missouri. Each of the six meetings between these two franchises has been decided by one goal. Phil Brewer claimed the solo point for the Oilers. On a 15-game point streak, Jesse Root tallied the Maverick's two goals.

Two unlucky goalies and two goals in the first period- one went to Tulsa and the other, Missouri. The Oilers drew blood first when Phil Brewer caught goaltender Josh Robinson down and took the puck top shelf to net his tenth of the season.

Three minutes later Maverick's leading goal scorer, Root, would do the same to Kevin Carr. Skating around from behind the pipes, Carr pushed out the puck that Root got a stick on and tapped in.

The 1-1 score would stand through the second frame as the Mavericks would come close to a goal but it would not count. Robinson and Carr would shine through the period, both making explosive saves- each stopping 10 shots.

The Oilers began the third period on the penalty kill with 1:18 left on the Aaron Harstad helmet violation but only needed to work off seven of the seconds as the Mavericks scored and took their first lead of the night. His second of the game, eighteenth of the season, Root connected on the man advantage and gave the Mavericks the lead, 2-1.

The final 20 minutes expired and the Oilers would lose the contest having produced 1 goal, 22 shots and 12 penalty minutes.

The Oilers, now 2-2-1-1 against the top team in the ECHL, are back in Silverstein Eye Centers Arena tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.
