Royals Re-Schedule Flyers Affiliation Events to March 25
January 22, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL, today announced that activities associated the Flyers Affiliation Night have been re-scheduled to Friday, March 25 (@ 7:00 pm) when the Royals will face the Manchester Monarchs at Santander Arena in Reading.
Please note that tonight's game (Friday, January 22) at Santander Arena against the Brampton Beast (@ 7:00 pm) is still set to be played as originally scheduled. Tonight's game has NOT been postponed.
Please note that the Royals will still wear the special jerseys designed for the Flyers Affiliation game during tonight's matchup with the Beast. Persons who purchased those jerseys can expect to receive them next week.
Fans who currently have tickets for tonight's game and would prefer to attend the game against the Monarchs on Friday, March 25, when the Flyers Affiliation Night events will be held, including appearances by Flyer legends Bernie Parent and Lauren Hart, can simply contact the Royals office (610-898-7825) to conduct an appropriate ticket exchange.
"As with the THON events that were scheduled for Saturday, we believe that it is in the best interest of all involved to reschedule the Flyers Affiliation Events originally set for tonight," said Royals' Team President Drew Bell. "We look forward to hosting Bernie Parent and Lauren Hart in late March, but we cannot ask them to make the trek to Reading in light of the impending winter storm. With respect to tonight's game, as noted yesterday, there is a basic tenet in pro hockey that a game will proceed as scheduled, provided the visiting team and officials are able to make the game. We do not expect any problems in that regard this evening. But, once again, we want to encourage our fans to make the appropriate decision for their own safety and well-being. The Royals' organization will ensure that all tickets for tonight's game are honored in an appropriate manner."
In separate matters, the Royals today announced that forward Robbie Czarnik has been returned to Reading from the San Diego Gulls of the AHL. The team has also added goaltender Nick Niedert as the team's Emergency Back-Up Goaltender.
Czarnik, a fifth year pro from Detroit, Michigan, was loaned to San Diego on January 11, 2016. He played three games with the Gulls without registering any points or penalty minutes. He also played two AHL games for Providence Bruins in late December and early January (0g-0a=0pts, 6 pims). In thirty-two games with the Royals, Czarnik has scored a team-leading sixteen goals and assisted on thirteen others (twenty-nine points). This is the fourth time that the Royals have signed Niedert this season. He has appeared in one game for the team, coming on in substitution in Reading's 7-2 loss to the Elmira Jackals on October 24, 2015. (8 saves / 11 shots in 36:21 of TOI).
The Royals return to action tonight (Friday, January 22 @ 7 pm) when the team will host the Brampton Beast in the first of two consecutive at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. Tonight's matchup can be heard live on CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 in Reading, Pennsylvania, starting with the pre-game warm-up show presented by Highmark Blue Shield at 6:30 pm Eastern Time. Streaming audio is available free of charge on the Royals' website (follow the 'headset' icon); and streaming video is available on a pay-per-view basis through ECHL.TV.
