Royals Trade Defenseman Belanger

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that defenseman Frederic Belanger has been traded to the Bakersfield Condors for future considerations.

Belanger began the season on the injured list, sustaining an injury during the first practice of training camp. He was activated off the injured list on February 12 and appeared in his first professional game on the road in Atlantic City. He tallied and an assist in Reading's 4-2 victory. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman has appeared in a total of 15 contests with the Royals and tallied four assists, all on the power play, and six penalty minutes. He spent four seasons with Dalhousie (CIS). In 101 games, Belanger scored 24 goals and 47 assists for 71 points and posted 132 penalty minutes.

The Dayton Bombers return to Reading tomorrow on St. Patty's Day. The first 1,000 children, 12-and-under, receive a Royals Frisbee courtesy of St. Joseph's Medical Center. Plus the Royals will be wearing their special St. Patty's Day Jazz Fest Jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Berks Arts Council. Trenton visits Reading on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. All Star Distributing is handing out Sam Adams/ Royals car flags to the first 1,500 adults, 21-and-over.
