Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that the second annual Gladiators Jersey Auction for charity sponsored by Kroger, 96 Rock and Charter Communications raised $28,175. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to local children's charities through the Gladiators Foundation for kids.
"We are very thankful and appreciate of our fans support of our 2nd jersey auction," said Gladiators General Manager Steve Chapman. "The auction is the main fundraiser for our Foundation and we are proud that it generated such great support in its second season. I think the fans will enjoy these one-of-a kind jerseys and they certainly catch the eye. The biggest winners will be the local children's charities and it will be a pleasure to distribute these monies next season and to see the good that it can do. Again, I cannot say enough about the positive support and generosity of our fan base in this little endeavor of ours."
All of the Gladiators jerseys sold for well over the original $250.00 asking price. Mike Vigilante's jersey went for a team high $3,050 while Andrew Oke's #4 went for $2,100. In addition, three different jerseys were auctioned off for $2,000 apiece.
The Gladiators "Turned Back the Clock" on Friday, March 11th as they wore special tie dyed jerseys during the game. The one-of-a-king red, gold and white swirled pattern jerseys had a unique â60's style Gladiators logo adorning the front of the jersey.
Following the game, the Gladiators auctioned off the jerseys to benefit local area charities. All of the proceeds raised will benefit charities that provide services and programs for children of Gwinnett and surrounding counties.
The Central Division Champion Gwinnett Gladiators continue their second season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday, March 18th against the Mississippi Sea Wolves at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties.
