March 16, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. â Mississippi Sea Wolves Professional Hockey is proud to announce that the Third Annual Face-Off Against Kids' Cancer event raised $35,195 for Candlelighters For Childhood Cancer of the Gulf Coast and the Courtney Boynton Foundation.
Sponsored by Beau Rivage, Crescent Trucks of New Orleans, Mississippi Power, More Graphics of Slidell, Pepsi Bottling Company and RPM Pizza (Dominos), the proceeds were generated from the sale of commemorative T-shirts, a silent auction and a jersey auction.
"The entire Sea Wolves hockey team are very happy to have been a part of this very special program," said Mississippi director of community relations Albert Branca. "The money that was raised will benefit two very worthwhile charities on the Gulf Coast and a number of very special children. These children have inspired the team who were their partners in events throughout the year. The friendships formed will last a lifetime and we look forward to being a part of next year's event."
"We would like to thank the community for their generosity to help make it another wonderful success," said Candlelighters For Childhood Cancer on the Gulf Coast director Debbie Dahl. "The support of the community is most appreciated. It makes a difference in the lives of children with cancer."
Blank specialty game jerseys for the Third Annual Face-Off Against Kids' Cancer event are still available for $250 each by calling the hockey office at (228) 275-WOLF.
Candlelighters For Childhood Cancer of the Gulf Coast is a non-profit support group dedicated to the financial, emotional and educational support of families of children with cancer. Their purpose is to alleviate the isolation many families feel at the time their child is diagnosed, to offer love, caring encouragement and understanding so that no one is left alone during childhood cancer. Their funds and experience are used to help families overcome the varied traumas and expenses not covered by any insurance or outside support.
