Royals Sign Forward Chris Bala

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Chris Bala ["BA lah"]. Last season, Bala (6'1"/195) (29), who hails from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, scored nineteen goals and assisted on twenty-eight others (forty-seven points) in fifty-eight games for Reading. Bala, a seventh year pro, served as the Royals team captain last year and was named as the team's Most Valuable Player at the Fans' Choice Awards Banquet. A second round pick of the Ottawa Senators (#58 overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Bala played six games with the Senators, recording an NHL assist in 2002.

It is expected that Bala will be in the lineup tonight when the Royals travel to the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey to take on the Trenton Devils for the third time this season. The game night broadcast will begin at 6:30 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, PA, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
