Checkers Add Adam Nightingale

Charlotte, N.C. - Head coach and general manager of the Charlotte Checkers, Derek Wilkinson, announced today that the team has signed forward, Adam Nightingale. Also, the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League recalled goaltender, Miika Wiikman from Charlotte.

Nightingale, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds forward played last season with the Checkers totaling four goals, nine assists for 13 points with 95 penalty minutes. The Cheboygan, MI native played four seasons of NCAA hockey with both Lake Superior State and Michigan State University.

Wiikman, 5-foot-11, 177 pounds, started the season with the Wolf Pack playing two games recording one victory. He totaled a .872 save percentage with a 4.32 goals against average during that time. After being loaned to Charlotte, Wiikman suited up in four games with the Checkers amassing a record of 1-1-2. During that span, he garnered a .922 save percentage with a 2.36 goals against average.

The Checkers are in their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Their next home game takes place on Nov. 23 against the Texas Wildcatters. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
