NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (November 21)- On the eve of Thanksgiving, the Brahmas brought their "A" game as they defeated the Corpus Christi Rayz 5-4 Wednesday evening at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

The night started early for the Brahmas leading scorer Scott Sheppard, as he whipped a powerplay goal past Rayz goaltender Kevin Couture after an interference call on Evan Stoflet.

Corpus Christi center Justin Quenneville answered back for the Rayz as he scored scored a short- handed goal on Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola, tying the game 1-1. It is the first short-handed goal of the season the Brahmas have given up.

The Rayz were unable to stay out of the penalty box early as Brahmas forward Grant Jacobsen took advantage of another Brahmas penalty and scored at the 11:57 mark. Forward Jordan Cameron and defenseman Chris Mann were credited with the assists.

Brahmas forward Anders Strome had another Thanksgiving treat for the fans in the first as he shot a goal past the Rayz goalie, putting the Brahmas up 3-1. This led to a change in goaltenders, as Corpus Christi Rayz coach Ken McRae had goaltender Jason Tapp come in relief for his starting goaltender, Kevin Couture.

After a slow start for Corpus Christi, the Rayz woke up late in the first as they went on a powerplay from Brahmas defenseman Tim Laurila's penalty. Rayz center Justin Quenneville quieted the crowd with his second goal of the game, ending the first with a score of 3-2.

The second period began with the Brahmas in penalty trouble, which gave the Rayz the opportunity to tie up the game. Rayz enforcer, Adam Powell wristed one past Cacciola at the 7:56 mark in the second.

The ecstatic Thanksgiving crowd at NYTEX seemed to rev up the Brahmas for the third period as forward Greg McConnell showed Rayz new netminder, Tapp, the Brahmas were not going down in front of their fans. Forward Grant Jacobsen supplied the assist, putting the Brahmas up 4-3.

Texas became all too familiar with the penalty box as three more penalties were called against the Brahmas in the third period. Again, Corpus used the man advantage to help tie the game at 4-4 as Brent Howarth pushed one past Cacciola at the 7:52 mark.

In just his second game back from being activated from the IR, Brahmas forward Jordan Cameron gave the supportive fans just what they had been asking for by scoring a goal 14 seconds after the Rayz goal. The Brahmas never looked back as they defeated the Rayz 5-4.

The Brahmas were outshot 37-27 but not outplayed as their record goes to 7-4.

The Brahmas next game is Friday, November 23 at 7:05 PM at the NYTEX Sports Centre as they face the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. On Saturday, November 24, the Brahmas will continue their home stand as they face the Rocky Mountain Rage at 7:05 PM.
