Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, are respectfully seeking fans and their family members who would be interested in sharing their personal experiences in battling breast cancer and becoming a part of the game night experience at the organization's 'Pink In The Rink' game on February 1, 2008, when the Royals take on the Johnstown Chiefs at the Sovereign Center. The Royals seek to honor breast cancer fighters and survivors, as well as family members of persons who have battled breast cancer, in the entire scope of the game night, including video montages of those affected.

If you or your family member has a breast cancer story that you would like to share with our community when the organization supports the continuing effort to find a cure for breast cancer at the PIR game, please provide a detailed account of your circumstances via email to rteamrtown@royalshockey.com.

On February 1, the Sovereign Center will be resplendent in pink, as the Royals' organization, business partners and fans celebrate advancements in the treatment of breast cancer, while remembering and honoring persons who have been impacted by this illness. The game will be played on pink ice, and the Royals will don pink jerseys, which will be auctioned after the game with the net proceeds going to Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Royals will also use pink sticks during warm-ups, and the game will be played with commemorative PIR pucks. The sticks and pucks will be autographed by the Royals and raffled off after the game. All are invited to participate in the PIR initiative by purchasing a "Pink in the Rink Package," which is available at all nine Boscov's Department Stores in the Reading area, as well as the Royals' office. The PIR Package costs just $25 and includes a ticket to the game and a commemorative pink t-shirt, featuring the Royals' PIR logo. Also, fans can purchase a collector's edition PIR hat at Boscov's stores and the Royals' Fan-Attic at 645 Penn Street (610-898-7221).

The Royals continue a four game road trip on Tuesday, January 8 (7:00 pm), when the team will face the Dayton Bombers at the E.J. Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. The Royals return home on Friday night against the Wheeling Nailers when the organization will host Teacher Appreciation Night and the first 1500 fans will receive an 'R-Team/R-Town' note cube. The game night broadcast on Tuesday night will kick off with the pre-game warm up show at 6:30 pm on ESPN Radio 1240 in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals website (www.royalshockey.com). Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
