Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, won two of three games last week to move within two points of first place Cincinnati in the North Division and return to First Arena to open a four-game home stand Friday night.
Overall: 24-8-1-2 (51 pts.) Last Week: 2-1-0-0 (4 pts.) 2nd North Division/3rd American Conference/3rd Overall
Wednesday, Jan. 2nd - @ READING (7-3 W) Att: 4,146 Shots: REA 30-29 PP: 0/3 PK: 8/8
BRETT PILKINGTON scored fifty-three seconds after the Royals tied the game at 3-3 to propel the Jackals to their first ever win at Sovereign Center in three tries this year. Quick strikes by Elmira punctuated this match quick answers following Reading goals (27-seconds and 53-seconds) and well as on back-to-back goals (35-seconds and 11-seconds). PILKINGTON's goal was followed just eleven seconds later by DAN KRONICK and marked the fastest two goals scored by the Jackals this year.
Friday, Jan. 4th - @ DAYTON (6-3 W) Att: 2,157 Shots: DAY 32-29 PP: 2/5 PK: 6/6
Two power play goals ended an 0-for-22 skid for the Jackals in their third straight road win as they extended their regulation unbeaten streak to ten games (8-0-1-1). The second of the two man-up goals by PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT came just forty-six seconds after the Bombers had pulled to within 4-3 on a shorthanded goal. For FAUBERT, it was his team-leading 13th goal of the season and capped off a three-point night.
Saturday, 5th - @ DAYTON (1-3 L) Att: 3,956 Shots: ELM 28-26 PP: 0/8 PK: 4/7
Three power play goals in an 8:29 stretch of the third period did the Jackals in as they fell for the first time in four meetings against the Bombers this season. LUKE FULGHUM gave Elmira its only lead of the night with his third shorthanded goal of the year (11th overall) with 5:36 left in the second period. FRANK LITTLEJOHN was stopped on a third period penalty shot that came with the Jackals still in front 1-0, but was stopped by JEREMY DUCHESNE (27 saves in the win).
