
Royals Double up Blazers

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals defeated the Kamloops Blazers 6-3 in front of a sold out crowd for Pink in the Rink Night as Tyler Soy paced the club offensively with four points (1g-3a) on the night.
Victoria's Soy registered a short-handed goal in front of 7,006 fans, to give the Royals a 3-1 lead midway through the middle stanza, when he made a highlight reel backhand-to-forehand move on Kamloops' netminder Dylan Ferguson. Victoria's Vladimir Bobylev scored a pair of goals in the first period. The Royals' Jack Walker, Dante Hannoun and Matthew Phillips all tallied goals in the third frame. Kamloops received their goals from Matt Needham, Spencer Bast and Matthew Campese.
With his goal, Phillips tied the franchise rookie goal scoring record at 32. The previous record was set by Oscar Moller during the 2006-07 season.
Royals' goaltender Coleman Vollrath turned aside 30 of the 33 shots fired his way. The Blazers started netminder Ferguson who stopped 35 of the 41 shots he faced.
Victoria went 2/540.0% on the powerplay. Kamloops held a 1/616.7% mark on the man-advantage.
With the victory, the Royals extended their franchise best home winning streak to nine games that dates back to January 20th against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
The Royals will now embark on a three-game Alberta road-trip starting in Calgary to face the Hitmen on Friday, February 25th and Red Deer to take on the Rebels on Saturday, February 26th. Puck drop for both contests are set for 6:00 p.m. PST. Victoria will then travel to Edmonton to battle the Oil Kings with puck drop scheduled for 10:30 a.m. PST.
