Hitmen Dumped by Medicine Hat in OT

Calgary, AB - Chad Butcher scored on a breakaway 1:28 into overtime, lifting the Medicine Hat Tigers to a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Former Hitmen goaltender Mack Shields turned in a strong performance for the visitors making 39 saves in a second star performance.

Ty Stanton on a powerplay and Alex Mowbray shorthanded, also scored for the Tigers giving them their fourth win in five games against Calgary this season.

Jordy Stallard with his 16th goal and Travis Sanheim with his 10th, turned on the red light for the Hitmen who trailed 1-0 after the first period but led 2-1 after 40 minutes.

The single point collected by Calgary pulls them to within three points of Red Deer for second place in the Central Division and to within nine points of the front-running Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The Hitmen, 34-22-2-2, return to the Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday, Feb. 23, to host the Portland Winterhawks. Game time is 7:00 p.m. for RE/MAX Chuck-A-Puck in support of the Children's Miracle Network. Fans are encouraged to purchase a puck and toss it on the ice in the second intermission for a chance to win one of four hot air balloon rides.
