Royals Activate Forward Ryan Gibbons

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the organization has activated forward Ryan Gibbons from the 3-Day Injured Reserve. In a separate transaction, the Royals placed defenseman Bobby Davey on the 3-Day Injured Reserve.

Gibbons (6'5/215) (24) was a waiver claim by the Royals on January 15, after he was released by the Elmira Jackals. In eighteen games with the Elmira this season, Gibbons scored two goals, picked up seven assists (nine points), registered sixteen penalty minutes and played to a plus-9 (+9). Prior to turning pro, Gibbons, a third year pro from West Vancouver, British Columbia, played five seasons of major junior with the Seattle Thunderbirds, where he scored fifty-eight goals, assisted on thirty-eight others (ninety-six points) and picked up.421 penalty minutes in 291 total games. A sixth round pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in 2003, Gibbons began his pro career with the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL, where he scored four goals and registered eight assists (twelve points) in fifty-seven games. Last season, Gibbons played sixteen games with the Charlotte Checkers, where he scored one goal and assisted on two others (three points).

The Royals return to action tonight (Friday, February 6 @ 7:30 pm) when the team travels to Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey, to face the Trenton Devils. Friday's game will be broadcast live on the Royals Radio Network Presented by Transmissions by Arbogast (True Oldies WRAW 1340 am in Reading; and The Ticket WLAN 1390 am in Lancaster), as well as on the internet via webcast hosted by Sportsjuice.com, which can be accessed through the Royals website.
