Forward Hughes assigned to Blades

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that forward Bobby Hughes has been reassigned to the team from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.

Hughes joins the Everblades after seeing action in seven games with the River Rats this year where he picked up one goal and one assist. The 21-year-old spent his rookie campaign with the River Rats as well in 2007-08 playing in 26 games, notching 16 points (6g, 10a).

The former 4th round draft pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006 made his professional debut in 2006-07 playing in one Calder Cup Playoff game with Albany. Prior to turning pro the Richmond Hill, Ontario native completed a four-year junior career with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League.

As a junior, Hughes amassed 253 points (103g, 150a) in 243 career games with Kingston, including a junior career-high 96 points (40g, 56a) in 59 games in his final junior year in 2006-07.

The Everblades return to action tonight when they travel to South Carolina to take on the Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. from the North Charleston Coliseum. The Everblades return home on Wednesday, February 11 when they host the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena.
