Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, MS - The Cincinnati Cyclones defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves 6-2 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Friday evening in the first game of a three-games-in-three-nights series.

While on the power play, Dustin Sproat gave the Cyclones a 1-0 lead, capitalizing on a fortuitous bounce of the puck when Jamie Coughlan dumped the puck hard around the boards, the frozen rubber hit a stanchion in the glass while Sea Wolves goaltender Ryan Munce was out of the net looking to play the puck to a defenseman and bounced right to Sproat for a tap in at 10:05. The Sea Wolves drew even when Ryan Cruthers redirected Kyle Peto's shot from the left point for his 22nd goal of the year at 17:20 of the first period.

Jeff Kyrzakos staked the Sea Wolves to a 2-1 lead at 2:07 of the second when he hammered home the rebound of Jeremy Hall's shot. Cincinnati answered back with goals from Matt Syroczynski on the power play at 4:34, Ben McLeod at 5:39, and Ian McKenzie at 8:33 to take a 4-2 lead into the locker room after two periods.

Justin Johnson scored an unassisted goal, his ninth of the season at 6:51, and Jacob Dietrich potted his eighth goal of the season at 13:46 of the third as Cincinnati held on to win 6-2.

Ryan Munce made 22 saves, and the Sea Wolves were 0-for-4 on the power play.
