Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, announced today they have signed rookie forwards Hank Carisio and Christian Ban. The announcement was made by Head Coach Marty Raymond, and both players are expected to hit the ice tonight when the Condors host the Alaska Aces.

Carisio, 25, is in his rookie season in the pro ranks, playing mostly with the Danbury Mad Hatters of the Eastern Professional Hockey League. The 6-foot-1-inch, 205-pound native of Cheshire, Connecticut, is currently tied for the EPHL lead with 165 penalty minutes in just 23 games. Carisio has also averaged more than a point per game, potting nine goals and 24 points on the year. Additionally, he has skated in two games with the Elmira Jackals in the ECHL this season, recording an assist with 10 penalty minutes. Carisio played three seasons with Merrimack College (Hockey East) in Massachusetts.

Ban, 26, is in his first professional season in North America, having skated in 34 games with the Bloomington Prairie Thunder in the International Hockey League earlier this season, where he recorded 2g-11a-13pts and 30 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-10-inch, 180-pound forward has played nearly his entire pro career before now in Austria for his native town of Klagenfurt. His best season came in 2006-07 with Klagenfurt, where he recorded 16g-17a-33pts in 56 games. Ban also represented Austria twice in the World Junior Championships and an additional season in the World Junior Under-18 Championships.

What Coach Raymond says:

"Hank is a kid that definitely brings some more toughness to our team," said Raymond. "And Christian came recommended to us; he's a good skater with skill. With some injuries lately we're a little short and we are looking forward to these guys helping us out."
