
Wranglers Trump Salmon Kings 4-2 - Las Vegas Wins Fourth Straight

Victoria, BC - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (22-18-4, 48 points) defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings (29-14-4, 62 points) 4-2 at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre on Friday night. Captain Shawn Limpright scored twice and added an assist to lead the Wranglers to their fourth straight win. Goalie Kevin Lalande improved to 8-8-2 on the year with 34 saves on 36 Victoria shots. Center Adam Miller added a goal and an assist as the Wranglers moved to 8-10-2 on the road this year. Victoria native Sean Owens dished out two assists in the team's third straight win over the Salmon Kings. Left wing Mick Lawrence also added a goal in the win. Las Vegas will remain in Victoria for a 7:05 PM faceoff on Saturday night.
Las Vegas opened the scoring midway through the first period as Shawn Limpright scored his seventh goal of the season. Limpright carried the puck into the Victoria zone and fired a shot from the right-wing circle, beating Victoria goalie Todd Ford on the blocker side at 10:28. Victoria countered before the end of the period with a shorthanded goal at 19:42. Salmon Kings Captain Wes Goldie tallied his 38th goal of the season with only 18-seconds to go in the period, tying the game 1-1. Victoria outshot Las Vegas 17-12 in the opening period.
In the second period, Las Vegas took the lead with the only goal of the middle period. After killing off three straight Victoria power plays, the Wranglers were able to take a 2-1 lead with only 1:52 left in the middle period. Limpright carried the puck into the Victoria zone, snapping a pass to the net for Adam Miller. The Wranglers center redirected the Limpright pass under the cross for his 11th goal of the season.
In the third period, left wing Mick Lawrence scored for the second straight game with his ninth goal of the season just 37-seconds into the final frame. Forwards Justin Taylor and Tyler Mosienko set up Lawrence's second goal in as many nights for the 3-1 Las Vegas lead. Victoria's Adam Taylor trimmed the Wranglers lead to 3-2 with his first goal of the season at 5:54 of the third period. Limpright added his second goal of the night with an empty-net tally at 19:03 for the 4-2 final.
The Wranglers will be in Victoria for two more games. Las Vegas will play on Saturday at 7:05 PM and Sunday at 5:05 PM. The Wranglers return home on Tuesday, February 10th, to host Phoenix at 7:30 PM.
