Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that former goalie Brent Krahn has been recalled by the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars from the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves.

Krahn, 26, played in six games with the Wranglers this season before being assigned to the Chicago Wolves on December 12, 2008. He played eight games for Chicago, posting a 4-3-0 record with a 2.28 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Krahn earned his first shutout since 2007 this past Saturday vs. the Houston Aeros, making 30 saves, including 17 in the third period, in a 3-0 win.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native appeared in 14 games with the AHL's Quad City Flames last season, notching a 6-6-2 record with a 2.49 goals-against average and .905 save percentage. Krahn signed as a free agent with the Dallas Stars on Sept. 24, 2008, and was originally drafted by Calgary in the first round (# 9 overall) in the 2000 Entry Draft. The 26-year old also played in 14 games with Las Vegas as a rookie in 2003-04, going 7-5-2 with a 2.61 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.

Krahn becomes the second Wrangler this week to get called up to the NHL, joining former goalie Mike McKenna, who signed with Tampa Bay on Tuesday. This marks Krahn's first call up to the NHL and he could make his NHL debut within the next few days.

A two-time ECHL All-Star, goaltender Mike McKenna became the 392nd player to play in the National Hockey League after the ECHL when he made his debut with Tampa Bay on Tuesday night, stopping all 11 shots he faced after replacing Karri Ramo in the second period.

McKenna became the sixth former Wrangler to play in the NHL, joining fellow goalies John Curry (Pittsburgh 08) and Dany Sabourin (Pittsburgh 05). Defensemen Tyler Sloan (Washington 08), Adam Pardy (Calgary 08) and Tyson Strachan (St. Louis 08) each made their NHL debuts this season. Sloan, Pardy and McKenna each played on the Wranglers record setting team of 2005-06. Las Vegas set team records for most wins (53) and points (112) in a season in 2005-06.

The Wranglers will be in Victoria for their next three games, including tonight at 7:05 PM at the save on Foods Memorial Centre. Las Vegas will also play on Saturday at 7:05 PM and Sunday at 5:05 PM in Victoria. The Wranglers return home on Tuesday, February 10th, to host Ontario at 7:30 PM.
