Bombers Lose Heartbreaker at Wheeling 3-2

WHEELING, West Virginia -- The Dayton Bombers were unable to take advantage of a brief six-on-three situation in the final moments, losing at Wheeling 3-2 Friday night.

After a scoreless first, the Nailers got on the board just 34 seconds into the second on a Tobias Holm goal. Dayton would tie it at 3:58 on Justin Chwedoruk's tenth goal of the year with an assist to Christian Gaudet. Gaudet would give the Bombers their only lead of the night at 2-1 at the 9:06 mark with assists to Tomas Zaborsky and Ryan Smyth. Wheeling would tie it at 13:12 on the first of two Chris Snavely power play goals.

Snavely would get the game winner at 1:33 of the third for the 3-2 final.

Dayton goalie David Shantz was 28 of 31 on saves, outdueled by Wheeling's Curtis Darling who was 30 of 32.

The Bombers host Johnstown Saturday night at Troy's Hobart Arena with a 7:30 faceoff. The game can be heard on the B-2 Networks.
