Bakersfield Condors News Release
Las Vegas, Nevada - Paul Rosebush's goal with 12.7 seconds left in regulation snapped a tie score and gave he Bakersfield Condors a 2-1 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers in front of 5,860 fans at the Orleans Arena on Friday night.
The first period went into the books scoreless, with the Condors playing a strong period. A pair of fights in the opening frame highlighted the action, with both Wranglers fighters getting game misconducts, including Billy Tibbetts. Bakersfield led in shots 12-6 through 20 minutes.
Exiting the penalty box early in the second frame, Deryk Engelland gave the Wranglers the lead. He swept the puck past Yutaka Fukufuji on a partial breakaway for the only goal of the game through two periods. The Condors led 26-12 in shots at that point.
It took 77 shots and over five periods but Bakersfield finally scored against Vegas in this two- game set. Guy Dupuis fired home his fifth of the season just 46 seconds into the third to tie the game at 1-1. A boarding major against Condors D Ryan Coole guaranteed Bakersfield would be shorthanded for the remainder of regulation. It didn't matter. Rosebush tucked a backhander past Marc Magliarditi while on a partial break for the game winner and the shorthanded tally. The Condors have come from behind to win in the third period four times this season, and snapped their five-game winless skid with the victory.
Bakersfield returns home on Saturday, December 18th against Idaho when fans will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest pillow fight, sponsored by WB-TV 12 and The Big 96.5. Fans are asked to bring a pillow to the game, participate in the fight, and donate their pillows to the Bakersfield Homeless Shelter afterward. The current record stands at 2,773 participants.
Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location.
