
Gladiators Bitten By Grrrowl, 5-2

Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Greenville Grrrowl used goals in the first period and second period to cruise to a 5-2 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Saturday night at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, South Carolina. Krys Barch slipped down the left wing wall taking a centering pass from Richard Pitirri and jammed the puck past Gladiators netminder Sean Fields to give the Grrrowl a 1-0 lead. Alex Kojevnikov added an assist on the goal at 11:32 of the opening period.
Greenville extended its lead to 2-0 as Brick Radunske slipped past the Gladiators defense and beat Fields on a breakaway. Radunske tallied the goal on the breakaway off assists from Corey Hessler and Simon Ferguson at 11:38 of the second period. Ferguson extended the Grrrowl lead to 3-0 on a breakaway 17 seconds into the third period. Jason Metcalfe and Colin Pepperall added the assists on the goal.
Pepperall pushed the Greenville lead to 4-0 just moments later jamming a puck past Fields in a scramble in front of the Gladiators net. Metcalfe and Radunske added the assists on the Greenville goal at 1:50 of the third period.
Jim Jackson got the Gladiators on the board with a slap shot from the point on the power play to cut the Greenville lead back to three goals. Brad Schell set up Jackson to pick up an assist on the goal at 10:05 of the third period. Greenville regained the four-goal advantage on Ferguson's second tally of the night at 14:59 of the third period. Radunske and Pepperall added the assists on the goal to give the Grrrowl a 5-1 lead.
Kris Goodjohn stuffed a loose puck past Morrison with 1:26 left in the third period to cut the Greenville lead to 5-2, but Gwinnett could get no closer in the loss. Adam Smyth and Joe Bourne picked up the helpers on the power play goal. Gwinnett went 2-for-5 on the power play while Sean Fields made 20 saves in the loss as the Gladiators fall to 15-6-4 on the season.
