Orlando Solar Bears News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Orlando Solar Bears (10-8-1-3), proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and the AHL's Toronto Marlies, defeated the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (11-11-3-0) 3-2 in overtime in front of a crowd of 3,300 on Friday night at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Eric Baier opened the scoring for Orlando at 14:28 as he slid along the ice in the slot and banked his shot past P.J. Musico.
Greenville tied the score at 1-1 in the second period when Jack Combs gathered the puck at the right circle during an Orlando power play and beat Ryan Massa for a shorthanded goal at 19:30.
Orlando restored its lead in the third period when T.J. Foster threw the puck from behind the goal line into the crease, and the puck redirected off of Brady Vail's skate at 7:26.
Jordan Knackstedt evened the score for the Swamp Rabbits when he elevated a shot past Massa at 9:10.
The game would go to overtime, and the Solar Bears prevailed midway through the extra session when Jack Rodewald took a feed from Foster and knocked his own rebound past Musico at 2:33.
Massa picked up the win with 28 saves on 30 shots against; Musico took the overtime loss with 34 stops on 37 shots.
