Colorado Eagles News Release

The Colorado Eagles beat the Wichita Thunder 3-2 at the Budweiser Events Center Friday night. Eric Levine stopped 30 of 32 shots in his second win as a Colorado Eagle.

The Thunder got on the board first when forward Joey Sides scored his first goal of the season on the rush to give his team a 1-0 lead with 7:44 to play in the first period.

Early in the second period, Eagles forward Trent Daavettila took a well-placed pass from Darryl Bootland who had stepped out of the penalty box moments before and backhanded the puck into the net. The captain's goal tied the game at 1-1 with 16:47 to play in the period.

Minutes later, Eagles forward Everett Sheen broke free on the penalty kill, finding an open lane and giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead at the 5:59 mark of the second. The short-handed goal was his second goal in two nights.

The Eagles widened their lead at the 10:42 mark of the period. Forward Joe Zarbo picked up a goal on a well-placed shot from in front of the net off a turnover, giving Colorado a 3-1 lead.

Wichita tightened Colorado's lead at the 9:27 mark of the third period when defenseman Landon Oslanski scored from the point on the powerplay, cutting the Eagles lead to 3-2.

The Thunder pulled goaltender David Shantz, but they were unable to find the equalizer with the extra skater, as the Eagles held on to win 3-2.

The Eagles and Thunder close out their three-game series Saturday at 7:05pm at the Budweiser Events Center.

Tickets for groups of 15 or more start at just $14 per seat and can be purchased by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).?
