Rob Hennigar Named ECHL Player Of The Week

West Valley City, Utah - The ECHL announced today that Utah rookie forward Rob Hennigar has been named the In Glas Co Player of the Week for March 2-8.

The New York Islanders prospect led the ECHL in scoring in four games last week with two goals and eight assists. Overall, he leads the ECHL in scoring during the month of March as well with four goals and 12 points.

Hennigar had one goal and two assists Wednesday in Bakersfield, three assists Friday in Ontario and one goal and three assists for four points Sunday in Phoenix. He also leads the Grizzlies with a plus-18 and has had multiple-points in 16 of his 30 games played with Utah.

Since being reassigned to Utah by the Islanders on December 30, the 25-year-old leads the Grizzlies in scoring with 13 goals and 35 assists for 48 points in 30 games.

On behalf of Rob Hennigar, a case of pucks will be donated to a Salt Lake area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 20,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

Utah returns to the E-Center Wednesday to host Idaho at 7:05 p.m.

The Utah Grizzlies, of the ECHL, celebrate their 15th anniversary season in 2008-2009. Owned and operated by the Elmore Sports Group, the Grizzlies enter their second season and sixth overall as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. South Jordan resident and former Islander Kevin Colley enters his first season as the Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations after serving as Jason Christie's Assistant Coach in 2007-2008 as the team advanced to the National Conference Finals. The Grizzlies play all home games at the E-Center of West Valley City, which hosted hockey during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
