Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, MS - The South Carolina Stingrays got three power-play goals on Tuesday evening, and that was enough to best the Mississippi Sea Wolves 3-2 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

South Carolina got on the board 3:51 into the first frame when Scott Romfo took a tic-tac-toe setup from Josh Godfrey and Travis Morin on a four-on-three power play. Mark Rooneem's 11th goal of the season drew Mississippi even when he took Jason Tejchma's pass and fired it just under the crossbar at 11:05 of the first.

South Carolina grabbed the lead back when Travis Morin poked a loose puck past Ryan Munce on the power play at 13:55 of the second period.

Mathieu Melanson's 26th goal of the season tied the game at two when Mike Berry fed a pass to Melanson, who made a head-fake and went backhand-to-forehand and buried the puck behind Boutin at 3:50 of the third period.

Less than two minutes later, South Carolina grabbed the lead for good when Jeff Corey buried his 14th goal of the year on a power-play setup from Bryson Busniuk ad Patrick Wellar at 5:28.

Ryan Munce made 35 saves to earn a loss, and the Sea Wolves' power-play was 0-for-5.

The next broadcast of Sea Wolves hockey is Wednesday when the Sea Wolves host the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 CT, and will be heard on the B2 Networks and at www.msseawolves.com. The pre-game show presented by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will begin 15 minutes before the opening faceoff!
