Thomas recalled by Iowa

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have announced today that D Andrew Thomas has been recalled by the Iowa Chops, the American Hockey League affiliate of Anaheim.

Thomas, 23, returns to Iowa for his second recall of the season. After starting the year in Bakersfield, the Bow, New Hampshire, native was the first Condor this season to be pulled up to the AHL when Iowa came calling on Nov. 17. He skated in 21 contests with the Chops, notching four assists and 20 penalty minutes and was returned to Bakersfield on Feb. 14. In 11 games since being brought back to Bakersfield, Thomas had six assists and a plus-7 rating, while being 'even' or a 'plus' in 10 of those games. Despite missing 39 games to recall, Thomas ranks third on the roster in scoring among defensemen (0g-14a-14pts) and is tied for the team lead with a plus-5.

With the recall of Thomas, five players who have skated with Bakersfield this season are currently in the AHL: Thomas, F Matt Caruana, C Charlie Kronschnabel and RW Chad Painchaud with Iowa, and F Matt Pope with Binghamton.

Ianiero is runner-up for ECHL honor

Condors F Andrew Ianiero nearly earned Bakersfield a league-record fourth consecutive In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week award. The Condors veteran was named runner-up today for the award, after a 2g-4a-6pt week in helping Bakersfield go 2-1-0 in three games. The three previous Player of the Week winners were Condors - two earned by RW Mike Wirll and one earned by RW Chad Painchaud.

The Condors return to the Mercy and Memorial Hospitals Home Ice at Rabobank Arena for a pair of games against the Utah Grizzlies this weekend. Friday is #10 Matt Pope Youth Jersey Giveaway, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, La Preciosa 105.3 and McDonald's. The first 2,000 kids, 12-and-under, will receive a replica youth jersey of the Condors rookie sniper!

Then on Saturday the 14th, the Condors and Grizzlies face off again for the 'What Could Have Been' Jersey Off Our Backs Raffle and Auction, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9 and Bud Light. Come take a look at what could have been, as the Condors will sport Bakersfield Brontos Specialty Jerseys in honor of the team name that was a finalist 11 years ago! The game-worn sweaters will be auctioned off after the game, plus everyone in attendance has the chance to win one of five to be given away! All proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Petroleum Shrine Club.

Individual game tickets may be purchased through the Rabobank Arena Box Office, which is open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday with extended hours on game days.
