Utah's Hennigar Named In Glas Co ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Utah Grizzlies rookie Rob Hennigar is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Mar. 2-8.

The 25 year old led the league during the week with eight assists and 10 points in four games as the Grizzlies picked up road wins at Ontario and Phoenix. He leads the ECHL in March with eight assists and 12 points and is tied for the lead with four goals in five games.

Hennigar, who is under contract to the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League, had a career-high four points and tied his career best with three assists and a plus-minus rating of +3 in a 6-4 win at Phoenix on Sunday. He had a pair of assists and three points on Wednesday at Bakersfield and three assists in a 5-1 win at Ontario on Friday.

Since being assigned to Utah on Dec. 30, 2008, the 5-foot-11 and 174-pound forward leads the Grizzlies with 35 assists, 48 points and a plus-minus rating of +18 in 30 games while ranking third with 13 goals.

He is tied for second among ECHL rookies with a plus-minus rating of +18 and three shorthand goals while ranking third with five shorthand points. He is fourth among rookies with 33 assists and 10th with 46 points. He has also played in the American Hockey League where he has eight points (3g-5a) and 14 penalty minutes in 27 games for Bridgeport.

The native of Jordan, Ontario played the last four years at the University of New Brunswick where he had 177 points (46g-131a) and 84 penalty minutes in 108 games. He also played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League and had 221 points (83g-138a) and 198 penalty minutes in 246 regular season games and 23 points (9g-14a) and 20 penalty minutes in 32 playoff games for Windsor from 2000-04.

On behalf of Rob Hennigar, a case of pucks will be donated to a West Valley City youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 20,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
