Checkers Daigneault Recalled, Ford Returns

Charlotte, N.C. - The Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League announced today that they have recalled goaltender Maxime Daigneault from Charlotte. Also, Hartford has released Checkers forward Matthew Ford from his Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.

Daigneault, 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, signed with the Wolf Pack before the start of this season but has spent the majority of his time with the Checkers. While in Charlotte, he has a record of 11-10-1 with a goals against average of 3.29 and save percentage of 89.8%. On February 2nd this season, he played in 39 minutes of action for the Wolf Pack surrendering two goals on 21 shots against the Lowell Devils coming in the game in relief of goaltender Matt Zaba. Daigneault was a 2nd round draft pick of the Washington Capitals during the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Last season, he won the Kelly Cup with the Cincinnati Cyclones playing in seven post-season contests.

Ford, 6-foot-1, 207 pounds, played 25 games with the Pack this season scoring one goal and adding two assists for three points and registering 10 penalty minutes. The University of Wisconsin product dressed in 21 games for the Checkers scoring 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points which is third in team scoring. He also leads the team with a +19 rating. Ford is expected back in the Checkers lineup at Time Warner Cable Arena tonight as the team battles the Gwinnett Gladiators.

The Checkers are playing their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on March 10 against the Gwinnet Gladiators at 7 P.M. start. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
