
RoadRunners Fly Past Wranglers 4-1

Phoenix, AZ - The Las Vegas Wranglers (8-10-2, 16 points) were defeated by the Phoenix RoadRunners (11-8-2, 24 points) 4-1 at the U.S. Airways Center on Friday night. Phoenix forwards Gino Guyer and Merit Waldrop each had a goal and an assist for the win. RoadRunners goalie Craig Kowalski made 26 saves for the victory. Wranglers' goalie Kevin Lalande stopped 34 Phoenix shots, falling to 1-3-0 on the season. Las Vegas center Chris Ferraro scored the team's lone goal. Las Vegas heads to Fresno for a 7:05 PM face-off at Selland Arena on Tuesday.
Phoenix wasted little time scoring the first goal of the night. RoadRunners center Matt Fornataro scored just 55-seconds into the opening period. Fornataro's ninth goal of the season came on the power play. Phoenix added another goal at 5:58 for the 2-0 lead. Center Gino Guyer circled in the Las Vegas zone and fired a shot from the left-wing circle for his fifth goal of the season. After getting outshot 7-0 to start the period, Las Vegas outshot Phoenix 11-3 the rest of the period.
In the second period, Merit Waldrop expanded the Phoenix lead to 3-0 just 5:13 into the middle period. Waldrop redirected a shot for his second goal of the season and a three-goal lead for the RoadRunners after two periods of play.
In the third period, Ashton Rome scored his eighth goal in six games against Las Vegas at 6:56. Rome's 12th goal of the season gave Phoenix a 4-0 lead. Las Vegas center Chris Ferraro scored his eighth goal of the season at 12:41, cutting the Phoenix lead to 4-1.
Las Vegas continues a five-game road trip Tuesday and Thursday in Fresno at 7:05 PM at Selland Arena. The team will stop in Bakersfield before returning home for the Midnight game on Monday, December 15th at 11:59 PM.
