Blades sweep ECHL Monthly Awards

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades are proud to announce that the ECHL has named forward Kevin Baker the CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month for November and has named goaltender Anton Khudobin the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for November.

Baker, who has also twice this season been named the In Glas Co. ECHL Player of the Week, also received the award for November 2006 after leading the league with 12 goals and seven power-play goals and finishing second with 21 points.

Baker led the league this November with 23 points and eight power-play goals and tied for the lead with 12 goals in 11 games. Florida was 11-1-0 in November with its only loss, 7-6 at Trenton on Nov. 29, happening when Baker was recalled to the American Hockey League by the Rochester Americans.

The 29-year-old had seven multiple-point games in November including three games where he had four points. Baker had four multiple-point goal games, including tying his career best with a hat trick on Nov. 22 at Augusta, and three games where he scored two power-play goals.

The Kington, Ontario native is tied for the league lead with eight power-play goals and is tied for second with 14 goals, 27 points and 13 power-play points in 17 games. Baker had 56 points (29g-27a) in 44 regular season games and seven points (5-2a) in nine Kelly Cup Playoff games for Texas in 2007-08 after beginning the season in Germany where he had 16 points (8g-8a) in 23 games for Schwenningen.

During the 2006-07 season he was selected as a starter for the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game and was named First Team All-ECHL in 2006-07 after finishing tied for fifth in the league with 81 points (36g-45a) in 62 games

Khudobin impressed during the month of Novmber posting a 7-0-0 record with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.36 and a save percentage of .954 in eight starts to help the Everblades go 11-1-0.

Florida set ECHL records for longest shutout sequence on the road (214:19) and longest shutout sequence for the regular season (214:19) and tied the record for consecutive shutouts (3) as Khudobin went 2-0-0 with two shutouts and did not allow a goal for 122:21.

Overall the 22-year-old is 9-1-0 and leads the league with three shootouts while ranking third with nine wins, a goals-against average with 1.74 and a save percentage of .936.

Selected in the seventh round (206th overall) by Minnesota in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Wild, the native of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan was 20-1-4 and led ECHL goaltenders with a goals-against average of 1.98 and a save percentage of .934 as a rookie in 2007-08. He was named the Rbk Hockey Goaltender of the Year becoming the first rookie to win the award since Frederic Cloutier in 2001-02 and the seventh rookie selected since the honor began in 1993-94.

Khudobin was also voted to the ECHL All-Rookie Team and First Team All-ECHL while also being selected to the ECHL All-Star Game.In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 24-30.
