Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has acquired forward David Nimmo ["NIM moh"] from the Florida Everblades for future considerations. Also today, the Boston Bruins of the NHL recalled forward Ned Lukacevic and assigned him to the Providence Bruins of the AHL.
Nimmo (6'2/220) (26), a second year pro who hails from St. Albert, Alberta, began the season with the Edinburgh Capitals of the EIHL (British League), where he scored eight goals and picked up eight assists (sixteen points) and registered twenty penalty minutes in seventeen games. Nimmo recently returned to North America, where played one game with the Everblades without registering any points or penalty minutes. Last season, Nimmo scored forty-one goals and picked up forty-three assists (eighty-four points) and was assessed with sixty-seven penalty minutes in 64 games with the Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League. Nimmo's numbers led all first year players in the CHL, and he was honored as the league's Rookie of the Year for his efforts.
