TRENTON, N.J. (December 5, 2008) -- The Trenton Devils earned a point in their fifth straight game with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Florida Everblades at Sovereign Bank Arena Friday night.

Jim Henkel put the Devils on the board 7:02 into the contest with a wrist shot from the right circle while on an odd-man rush.

Florida tied the game at 11:28 on a power play goal by Kevin Baker, his team-leading 15th tally of the year.

Tyler Burton gave the Devils back the lead with less than four minutes remaining in the first, as he converted on a one-timer for his team-leading eighth goal of the year.

In the second period, Matt Auffrey intercepted an Eric Castonguay pass in the Devils' zone and handed it to Mathieu Roy, who blistered a shot past Charlie Effinger to tie the game at 4:19.

Auffrey then gave Florida the lead with a power play goal at 12:17, his first as an Everblade.

The Devils tied the game with 10.2 seconds left in the second , as Matt Cohen pounded a shot past Anton Khudobin from the slot on the power play.

The Devils controlled the third period by out-shooting Florida 13-5, although their plans to take a point were put in jeopardy with a late major penalty on Jeremy Akeson. The Devils killed the penalty to force overtime and eventually, a shootout.

In the shootout, Castonguay and Brad Snetsinger scored for Trenton, though the highlight belonged to Effinger, who robbed former Miami University teammate Ernie Hartlieb with an amazing glove save in the third round. Kevin Baker shot wide in the fourth round to clinch the game for Trenton.

Cohen had a goal and an assist for the Devils, while Effinger made 25 saves for Trenton to earn his third win. The Devils' power play was 1-for-6 in the game.
