Road Warriors' Winning Streak Snapped

Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors lost for the first time in four games on Friday night to the South Carolina Stingrays by a score of 3-2.

The Road Warriors fell behind halfway through the first period when Luka Vidmar scored a goal right after a power play expired; he was assisted by Paul Rodriquez and Peter Boyd. Road Warriors goaltender Connor Knapp made 9 saves in the first period to keep the Road Warriors trailing by one at the end of the first.

The Road Warriors were unable to break their scoreless drought during the second period. Knapp kept the Road Warriors in the game by making 11 saves throughout the period to prevent the Stingrays from scoring. Stingrays' netminder, Jeff Jakaitis, stopped 26 shots through the first two periods. The second period ended with the Road Warriors trailing by a score of 1-0.

The Road Warriors gained momentum in the third period. After Boyd scored for the Stingrays on a rebound 44 seconds into the period, Jordie Johnston responded scoring on an unassisted slapshot. With the Road Warriors trailing by a 2-1 score, Lindsay Sparks scored to give South Carolina a 3-1 lead with a shot assisted by Wayne Simpson. With four minutes left in the period, Justin Vaive tipped in a shot by Brayden Irwin. The goal was Vaive's sixth of the year and moved his point streak to seven games. Despite pulling the goalie, the Road Warriors were unable to get a shot past Jakaitis in the final minutes and the Road Warriors were defeated by a 3-2 score.

The Road Warriors welcome in the Elmira Jackals for a 7 p.m. puck drop tomorrow night! The first 1,000 fans 12 and under receive a free NY Rangers themed Road Warriors youth jersey presented by Century BMW, HOT 98.1, and Seven on Your Side. The weekend concludes with a Sunday afternoon game against the Jackals at 3 p.m. Sunday is Family Fun Day with the Warriors!
