Robinson, Mongtomery Recalled by AHL's Stars
December 27, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (12/27/13) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Friday morning that goaltender Josh Robinson and forward Brock Montgomery have each been recalled from the Idaho Steelheads by Texas of the American Hockey League (AHL).
The AHL is the highest level of minor-league hockey played in North America.
Also, Idaho has released defenseman Jason Cohen. The 25-year-old will re-join Louisiana of the Southern Professional Hockey League after appearing in four games with the Alaska Aces and none with the Steelheads.
Montgomery, 21, opened the season in Texas before being assigned to Idaho on October 25. In 21 games at the ECHL level, Montgomery had 15 points (five goals, ten assists) and a plus-6 rating. Twelve of those points have come in his past 14 contests as he has steadily increased his role in his first professional season out of Kootenay of the Western Hockey League.
The 24-year-old Robinson is no stranger to the Boise-to-Austin travel itinerary - this is the fourth time he has been recalled from Idaho to Texas already this season. When in Idaho, Robinson is 9-3-1 between the pipes and ranks 11th in the ECHL is goals-against average (2.28) and 12th in save percentage (.921). The second-year pro out of Michigan Tech was Idaho's team MVP last season.
Idaho is on the road for three games in three nights this weekend, playing at Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday before traveling to Bakersfield for a game on Sunday. The team's next home game is Wednesday, January 15, when the Steelheads host the Utah Grizzlies. Tickets are available by calling the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208-331-8497.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
