Blades Bolster Blueline with Veteran Lampman
December 27, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Florida Everblades News Release
Estero, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Greg Poss, announced Friday that the team has agreed to contract terms with defenseman Bryce Lampman.
Lampman, 31, has over 500 games of professional experience, including three stints with the NHL's New York Rangers.
"Bryce is an experienced, good two-way defenseman," noted Poss. "He's a welcome addition to the team, especially when you consider how depleted our blue line is right now."
Florida's defensive corps found itself short-handed in Saturday's 8-4 home loss to Greenville, with Austin Levi (Charlotte), Mike Cornell (Bridgeport), Mike Little (Norfolk) and Charles Landry (Syracuse) all on AHL call-ups and Joe Stejskal and Tyson Gimblett both out to injury.
A native of Rochester, Minn., Lampman was a fourth-round draft pick of the Rangers, having been selected 113^th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. In 11 pro seasons, the defenseman has 150 points (38g, 112a).
The Blades will resume regular season play after the holiday break when they head back out on the road for a 7:00pm Saturday date with their in-state rivals, the Orlando Solar Bears, at the Amway Center.
Next Saturday's intrastate matchup will be broadcast live online at FloridaEverblades.com and on the Everblades' app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, with a video webcast available through America ONE, the official broadband and mobile broadcaster of the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 6:45pm.
