Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls (10-15-2-1) wrap up their six game home stand when they face off with the Stockton Thunder (14-9-0-4), tonight, at the Cow Palace. This is the fourth of 15 meetings between these clubs this season. The Bulls hold the edge in the season series four points to three.
The last time these teams played, San Francisco came back to win in thrilling fashion, 6-5, in a shootout. Stockton jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second period, before the Bulls charged back with four consecutive goals to take the lead. A late Thunder score pushed the game into extra time, and eventually a shootout. In the skills competition, Brett Findlay played the hero, scoring in the fifth round to win it.
Last weekend, San Francisco completed a three-in-three weekend series with the Colorado Eagles, with a 6-4 loss. The Bulls fell behind early, 2-0. They came back to tie it up, but couldn't put the Eagles away. From there, Colorado scored three consecutive goals, which proved to be too much to overcome. Dean Ouellet, Findlay, Luke Judson, and Jordan Morrison had tallies for San Francisco. Adrian Foster, Kalvin Sagert, Tyler Gron (2), Morrison, Collin Bowman, Dylan King, and Findlay registered assists.
After a slow start to the season, Ouellet has been coming on strong as of late. The Bulls All-Star representative last year has six points in the last six contests (1g, 5a). He is second on the team in assists (11), second in shots on goal (67), and third in points (16).
Heading into tonight's contest there is some good news for San Francisco. Stockton's standout rookie forward Andrew Clark was recently promoted to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. He had been leading the league in rookie scoring. However, the Bulls will still have to contend with Corey Trivino, who leads the team in assists (19), and is their active leader in points (23). He has compiled 12 points (1g, 11a) in the team's last 10 games.
San Francisco is in sixth place in the Western Conference with 23 points. They are four points ahead of the Las Vegas Wranglers in seventh. The Thunder are tied with the Idaho Steelheads for fourth place in the Western Conference with 32 points. They are three points behind the Alaska Aces in third.
Tonight the Bulls are celebrating the Holidays with an Ugly Sweater Specialty Jersey Night. The Bulls will wear specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off either through a silent auction, taking place during the game, or a post-game live auction. A portion of the proceeds from tonight's game will go towards the Salvation Army. In addition, any fans who come wearing an ugly sweater will receive a two-for-one ticket deal.
Following the game the Bulls head to Stockton for two games to complete this three-in-three weekend series with the Thunder. Tomorrow's contest starts at 7:30 pm.
