Tuesday, December 11 at 5:30 pm the Peoria Rivermen are hosting a Political Forum for the 18th Congressional House Seat, featuring Republican candidates John Morris, Jim McConoughey, and Aaron Shock. The forum will be moderated by Matt Jones from Johnson, Brunce & Noble, P.C. Admission is $5 and includes a ticket to that night's game against Hamilton. We encourage all news crews to come out and cover the event.
Wednesday the Rivermen will be at the Stocking Stuffers Store at Northwoods Mall from 3:45 - 5 pm, helping kids 12-and-under finish their holiday shopping. No adults are allowed in the store except for volunteer helpers, and Rivermen players Ryan Glenn, Julian Talbot, and Nicholas Drazenovic will be on hand to offer their shopping advice to the kids. All proceeds from the Stocking Stuffers Store goes to benefit Crittenton Crisis Nursery.
Trent and Colleen Whitfield continue their holiday season campaign to raise money and awareness for the National Down Syndrome Congress. Trent and Colleen's daughter, Alstyn, was diagnosed with Down Syndrome shortly after her birth four months ago, and they are entering the fight for education and awareness headlong. To help, the Rivermen are selling team autographed Christmas ornaments for $20 each, with all money going to the NDSC. Ornaments are also available in the Rivermen online store at www.rivermen.net/merchandise. Here is a link to a video plea from Trent and Colleen.
