Last Week's Games

Friday, December 7th - Quad City 3 at Peoria 2 Shootout

A late third period marker by Krys Kolanos set the stage for the Flames third shootout win of 2007-08 on Friday night in Peoria. The 3-2 victory over the Rivermen marked the first win of the year for the Flames vs. Peoria and also began a five-game road trip for Quad City. The Rivermen led 1-0 after one period on a marker by Nikolay Lemtyugov. Lemtyugov was denied on a semi-breakaway but managed to flip the rebound off a Flame and into the Quad City net to give the Rivermen a 1-0 edge. At 10:21 of the second period, the Rivermen opened up a two-goal gap when Charles Linglet netted his sixth goal of the year on a Peoria power play. Linglet converted on a cross-ice feed from Rivermen left wing Jean-Guy Trudel. The Flames answered Linglet's goal with 1:27 left in the second period. Grant Stevenson flipped a backhand shot past Peoria's Chris Beckford-Tseu during a Flames power play for his ninth goal of the season. David Van der Gulik and Tim Ramholt earned assists on Stevenson goals. The Flames tied the game late in the third when Krys Kolanos scored during a power-play with the sixth attacker on the ice. Quad City controlled play throughout the closing frame before Peoria's Charles Linglet took a tripping penalty with just 2:02 left. The Flames emptied their net during the power-play setting up a 6-on-4 advantage. Kolanos converted on the man advantage to force overtime. The teams skated scoreless through five minutes before beginning the shootout. Kolanos scored in the first round and Adam Cracknell scored in the third round while Matt Keetley stopped all four shooters he faced to earn the win.

Saturday, December 8th - Quad City 4 at Peoria 3

The Flames earned their second win in as many nights in Peoria by a final of 4-3. The Quad City power-play carried the day scoring three times as the team improved to 12-11-1-2 on the season. A wild first period featured five goals on a combined 24 shots. Peoria scored the first two goals of the period as Trent Whitfield and Alexander Hellstrom netted goals just 1:03 apart. The Flames got on the board 22 seconds after Hellstrom's goal when Cam Cunning scored on the rebound off a Brad Cole point shot. The Flames tied the game at 14:09 of the opening period when Krys Kolanos scored on the power-play following a nifty feed from Flames forward Grant Stevenson. The Flames moved in front just 50 seconds later when Warren Peters scored on the man advantage to set the score at 3-2 after one period. A very physical second period produced just one goal as Grant Stevenson netted his team-leading 10th goal of the year during a Flames power-play. The tally was the third power-play goal of the game for the Flames, a team season high for man advantage goals in a game. Jean-Guy Trudel netted the only goal of the third period as he netted his sixth goal of the season at 16:55 of the closing frame. Trudel's goal sparked a frantic third period push for the Rivermen that included a late power-play chance. The Rivermen were unable to solve Keetley in the dying minutes as Quad City earned the 4-3 victory.
