Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria, Ill. (October 3, 2008) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that eight players, including Peoria native and right wing Bo Cheesman, have been assigned to their respective ECHL, IHL clubs. Twenty-six (26) players remain on the Rivermen Training Camp roster.
Cheesman - along with left wings Erik Felde and Robin Richards (who potted a preseason marker in Peoria's 2-1 sudden-death shootout win in Quad City on October 2), center Alexandre Imbeault (who netted two shootout goals in Peoria's 2-1 sudden-death shootout win in Quad City), and goaltender Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux - will report to the Alaska Aces, Peoria's ECHL affiliate.
Right wing Curtis Billsten will report to the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads, and forward Jon Booras and defenseman Tomo Hafner will head to the IHL's Bloomington Prairie Thunder.
Tonight, St. Louis Blues and Rivermen players compete in a Blue-Gold NHL Scrimmage/Skills Showcase that begins at 6:45 PM. Prior to that, on the main concourse of Carver Arena, the entire Blues and Rivermen teams will available for a FREE autograph session from 5:15-6:00 PM. Tickets for the Showcase event are $10 (Lower Bowl) and $5 (Upper Bowl), and are available at the Peoria Civic Center Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster 309-676-8700 or online at Ticketmaster.com.
On Saturday, October 4, the Rivermen complete their preseason schedule by taking on the Rockford IceHogs at the Rockford MetroCentre at 7:00 PM.
On Saturday, October 11, the Rivermen face off against the Iowa Chops in their home opener; it's the back end of a home-and-home set between the clubs. It is Heritage Bank Magnet Schedule Night for the first 5,000 fans, and one lucky fan will win a Frigidaire Refrigerator, courtesy of the UFS Downtown Outlet Center, on which to put their magnet. Fans can also enjoy a pre-game tailgate event - "Smoke The Chops!" - just outside the Jefferson Street entrance of Carver Arena from 5:30-7:00 p.m. It is presented by Alwan & Sons Meat Company, Anheuser-Busch, Brewers Distributing, Coca-Cola and Centerplate.
