Moose devote October games to Breast Cancer Awareness

October 3, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have devoted their October games to breast cancer awareness and to raise money for that cause throughout the month of October with a number of special giveaways and the sale of a number of unique collectibles, such as jerseys, hats, and sticks, at all October Moose games.

Beginning on Saturday, October 11th when the Moose take on the Hamilton Bulldogs and during every game for the remainder of the month, the team will wear special pink ribbon patches on to their jerseys. Throughout October, these game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off to fans with proceeds going towards Cancercare Manitoba's Breast Cancer Centre of Hope.

True North Sports & Entertainment will also install pink ribbon logos on the ice surface which will be visible in games throughout the month, located in the neutral zone just above the bluelines.

Also throughout the entire month of October, six "pink" hockey sticks personally purchased, used in actual games, and then autographed by Moose captain Mike Keane will be auctioned off at each of the Moose home games.

The Moose have also designed a special pink ribbon hat which will be sold in the Moose Off the Rack Store, and on the concourse by the girlfriends and wives of the Manitoba Moose players. Also at each game, 30 lucky fans will receive a free hat courtesy of the Moose.

Then on Saturday, October 25th when the Moose host the Houston Aeros, it will be Ladies Night in support of CancerCare Manitoba's Breast Cancer Centre of Hope. That night, the Moose will honor Team Manitoba's provincial women's hockey team that captured the Esso Women's Nationals in Charlottetown, PEI last March.
